Sometimes where a couple or one of them have been divorced and are now marrying again, although it is not considered right that they should be married by a Christian minister, it is thought all right for them to have a registry office marriage followed by a Christian blessing. However if it is not right for them to have a so-called Church wedding then it is wrong to ask God's blessing on the relationship. On the one hand it is effectively saying you cannot have a church wedding because you shouldn't be marrying, while on the other hand you are asking God to bless the relationship. Put another way, you are asking God to bless what you hold to be wrong. It is a different matter if persons simply have a registry office marriage to comply with the law of the land (irrespective of whether the marriage is the first or a later one) and then hold a meeting to ask God's blessing on the relationship.
