(8) (a) In Genesis 15:6 it is said: “And he (Abraham) believed Jehovah; and he reckoned it to him [as] righteousness”. |
(b) In Habakkuk 2:4 we have: “The just shall live by his faith” |
(c) In Romans we have both these passages referred to by Paul (Romans 4:3; 1:17 ). However, without the positive statement in Habakkuk we would not have known that ‘faith’ as a rule of life applied generally and not just to Abraham. |
The importance of the passage in Habakkuk is demonstrated in that it is also quoted in Galatians 3:11 and Hebrews 10:38. |
