BACK will give thee understanding in all things.” (2 Timothy 2:7). Patience may be involved. Our understanding may need to be opened (Luke 24:45). What is important is that we do not read our own ideas into Scripture or read Scripture with blinkers (blinders) on so that we cannot see what Scripture has to tell us. We don’t want to be like the disciples who did not understand what the Lord was saying to them (Luke 9:45). Rather we should covet to be like Daniel who was credited with “shewing of hard sentences, and solving of problems” (Daniel 5:12). The moral side is involved in getting understanding for as Daniel was told: “None of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand” (Daniel 12:10).
