The Israelites sprinkled blood on the door-posts and lintels of their houses as a sign so that the destroyer might not touch them (Exodus 12:12/13; Hebrews 11:28). Psalm 78:49 would be ground for thinking that the plagues in Egypt were the work of angels representing God as it says: “a mission of angels of woes”.
